CDG can provide Accredited ‘ingress protection’ Certification.
Many products undergo a variety of tests before they reach the market. These tests include product safety testing, electromagnetic compatibility, vibration testing and many others. Ingress Protection testing, or IP testing, tests a product’s ability to protect against “ingress,” that is, the infiltration of water, dust and foreign objects. Some of the standards related to IP testing are MIL-STD-810 (Military), RTCA/DO-160 (Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics), and IEC 60529 (International Electrotechnical Commission). Different products require different levels of testing and different types of testing. Generally, ingress protection is divided into testing for ingress from foreign objects or liquids.
The degree of protection offered by an enclosure is shown by the letters IP (Ingress Protection) and two indexes. The first index indicates two factors (protection for persons and equipment), the second index indicates only one factor (protection against water).
Ingress Protection (IP) Test Certification
CDG can provide Accredited ‘ingress protection’ Certication.
Ingress Protection forms part of the process of determining the level of protection provided by equipment enclosures. The test methods and definitions of the Ingress Protection (IP) Codes are covered under the EN 60529, EN60598 and EN60079-0 Standards.
The ingress protection offered by enclosures should consist of the following:
Protection of persons against access to hazardous parts.
Protection of equipment inside the enclosures to ingress of solid foreign objects.
Protection of equipment in the enclosures against harmful effects due to the ingress of water.
The dust chamber provides ingress testing to the dust-protected (IP5X) and dust-tight (IP6X) categories, by applying a turbulent talc test with reduced pressure to the equipment to simulate cooling down (where applicable).
First digit: 6
Definition: Dust must not enter at all.Test conditions: The test is carried out in a dust chamber in which talcum powder is being kept suspended in the air by means of a dust distributor or similar device. The enclosure which is being tested is placed in the test chamber while a vacuum pump keeps the pressure in the enclosure below the atmospheric pressure of the environment according to the standard.Conditions for acceptance: The protection is satisfactory if there is no visible dust deposit within the enclosure after completion of the test.
Second digit: 5
Definition: Water jets directed at the enclosure from any direction must not have any harmful effects. IP X5
Test conditions: A jet nozzle with an inside diameter of 6.3 mm splashes a volume flow of 12.5 litres per minute from a distance of 2.5 - 3 meters from all sides onto the enclosure. The test time is 3 minutes.Conditions for acceptance: Should water have penetrated, it must not
- be present in quantities which impair the good working order of the operating material or represent a safety hazard;- deposit on non-conducting parts where it could lead to creep currents;- come in contact with live parts or coils which are unsuitable for operating in wet conditions;- collect near the wire end or possibly penetrate the wire.

Second digit: 7Definition: Water must not be allowed to enter in a quantity which causes damage when the enclosure is temporarily under water. IP X7Test conditions: In the test, the enclosure is completely immersed in water in a dip tank. Immersion depth: 1 meter; test time: 30min.Conditions for acceptance: Should water have penetrated, it must not
- be present in quantities which impair the good working order of the operating material or represent a safety hazard;- deposit on non-conducting parts where it could lead to creep currents;- come in contact with live parts or coils which are unsuitable for operating in wet conditions;- collect near the wire end or possibly penetrate the wire.
Different IP Ratings
The rating consists of the letters IP followed by two digits, the higher the number the better the protection. The first digit indicates the level of protection that the enclosure provides against the ingress of solid foreign objects while the second digit defines the protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against various forms of moisture (drips, sprays, submersion, etc).
How to get IP testing certificate?
To get an IP rating for your product, you need to provide a product sample for testing. CDG will conduct independent testing & assessment of your product. After testing & assessment, we give the product a numerical IP rating, based on the tests we have put it through.

CDG can provide Accredited ‘ingress protection’ Certification.
Devices backed by an international standard rating of IP68 are deemed fit enough to withstand dust, dirt and sand, and are resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m underwater for up to thirty minutes.
The Ingress Protection rating (IP Rating) system is a classification system that in a nutshell, provides you with the levels of protection you’re receiving from solid objects and liquids. The standard aims to provide users with more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as waterproof.
In a perfect world, every device will be able to withstand sand, dust, and water to some extent, not all devices. The Ingress Protection rating classification system, for solid objects and liquids.
The basic standards for IP rating are IS/IEC 60529. The standard aims to provide users with more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as waterproof. The first digit represents protection against ingress of solid objects, while the second digit represents protection against ingress of liquids; the higher the value, the greater the protection.
The Degree of Protection provided by an enclosure is indicated by the IP coding such as IPXXCH
IP – IP is the Code letters
X – First Characteristics numeral – Dust Protection (numerals 0-6 or latter X)
X – Second Characteristics numeral – Water Protection (numeral 0-8 or latter X)
C – Additional Letter – optional, letters A, B, C, D
H – Supplementary letters – optional, letters H, M, S, W
Applicable Standard: IS/IEC 60529.

EN 60529 outlines an international classification system for the sealing effectiveness of enclosures of electrical equipment against the intrusion into the equipment of foreign bodies (i.e. tools, dust, fingers) and moisture.
This classification system utilizes the letters “IP” (“Ingress Protection”) followed by two or three digits. (A third digit is sometimes used. An “x” is used for one of the digits if there is only one class of protection; i.e. IPX4 which addresses moisture resistance only.)
Ingress Protection testing, or IP testing, tests a product’s ability to protect against “ingress,” that is, the infiltration of water, dust and foreign objects. Evaluate the Degree of Protection Provided by a Product’s Enclosure with Ingress Testing from CDG. CDG is a leading ‘Ingress Protection Testing’ company in India, contact us for ‘Ingress Protection Testing Services’.
The first digit of the IP code indicates the degree that persons are protected against contact with moving parts (other than smooth rotating shafts, etc.) and the degree that equipment is protected against solid foreign bodies intruding into an enclosure.
